The Manager of Maintenance Planning is responsible for creating and executing the maintenance planning strategy for Horizon Air. This role leads and establishes priorities for the maintenance planning team and partners with M&E stakeholders to develop and execute a strategy that consistently delivers safety and compliance while optimizing resources to achieve operation objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Lead team and establish priorities to deliver maintenance planning strategy that consistently delivers safety and compliance
Make decisions and provide input on the long-term forecast for M&E that balances demand and capacity and support efforts to coordinate with key stakeholders (including SOC and Network Planning) on a strategic roadmap to ensure that M&E has the right mix of personnel, qualifications, tooling, parts, and workspace to achieve organizational objectives
Responsible for establishing regular communications and touchpoints that ensure M&E leadership and relevant stakeholders have visibility to overall strategy, and to coordinate actions required to meet plan objectives
Influence across M&E and coordinate efforts to ensure successful planning and execution for special projects and engineering efforts, including heavy maintenance vendors and aircraft modifications
Responsible for developing and maintaining the procedures, systems & plans needed to accurately forecast future scheduled maintenance activities for all aircraft in the Horizon fleet
Manage the activities of the Maintenance Planning department to ensure that production schedules are coordinated with the Operations division, Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) departments, and other Horizon organizations so that work may be accomplished as planned while providing aircraft to operate the flight schedule
Develop and maintain the heavy maintenance visit plan in consideration of budget guidelines, aircraft allocation, or other parameters
Develop and maintain a heavy vendor maintenance plan for the year in progress, then a two-year plan, complete with estimated labor hours, span time projections, and tail number assignments
Oversee the work of maintenance planners to build-up work control packages for aircraft scheduled for Heavy Checks and the special project work from sources both within and outside the Maintenance Department
Maintain knowledge of TRAX functions as they pertain to the planning environment and maintain and update forecasts with respect to the duty assignment
Leverage technology to enhance department performance and productivity
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning
Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Requirements:
5 years of maintenance planning or related maintenance operations experience
2 years of leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Ability to alternate between strategic, tactical, and operational priorities while working on projects and to quickly determine long/medium/short-term impact of proposed solutions and goals
Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key
Strong people skills and the ability to foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders that drive mutually beneficial outcomes
Excellent communication skills: verbal (both informal working teams and formal executive presentations), and in clear/concise written documents
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum age of 18
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of airline Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations
Proficient with systems used in aviation maintenance (TRAX, Vismaint, Tableau, etc.)
Knowledge of General Procedures Manual (GPM) and other company manuals.
