In this capacity, you will formulate, enact, and supervise all environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene programs and policies. You will coordinate with external regulatory officials, ensuring our adherence to corporate and government regulations. Your proficiency will deliver the vital resources, training, and suggestions to realize our Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems goals and objectives.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop strategies for cultural changes in safety and build programs to heighten safety and environmental protection awareness at all levels of the organization
  • Ensure alignment with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs by implementing systems to control safety risks and support continuous improvement
  • Proactively develop and implement waste reduction, energy, water, and BeWell@Baxter programs in coordination with the plant management team
  • Provide mentorship and support for Corporate Responsibility initiatives, including education and community outreach programs
  • Coordinate the plant's Medical Office and supervise the personnel in charge, providing technical mentorship as needed
  • Complete EHS risk analysis across all facility areas, developing preventive actions to mitigate risks
  • Implement effective EHS Risk Management through risk identification, assessment, and control measures, including a robust PPE program and an ergonomics strategy
  • Establish and monitor area performance indicators, conducting monthly Safety meetings with plant leadership to review metrics and initiatives
  • Support corporate and divisional Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with national and corporate EHS legislation
  • Ensure conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Keep the facility’s environmental permits up to date, directing operations in accordance with new EHS-related permits
  • Develop and ensure emergency preparedness and business continuity plans
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by providing ergonomically built furniture and tools

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering (Environmental, Industrial, Chemical) or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred in Environmental, Industrial Safety, or Industrial Hygiene
  • 10+ years of experience in the EHS field within an industrial environment
  • Professional development courses in Occupational Health, Fire Prevention, Industrial Safety, Environmental Protection, Waste Management, and Industrial Hygiene
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across functions
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
