Our client, a national organization operating within the marine and environmental emergency response industry, is seeking a Manager, Health, Safety and Environment to provide strategic and operational leadership across a multi-site, high-risk environment. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving HSE programs to ensure regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and a strong safety culture. The position plays a critical role in emergency response operations and acts as Safety Officer within the Incident Command System during major incidents. The role offers a base salary of approximately $120,000 and is ideally based in Ottawa, with frequent national travel.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and execute the organization’s HSE strategy, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, Safety Management Systems, and industry standards
Oversee training, audits, contractor safety, incident investigations, and emergency preparedness
Act as Safety Officer during response operations
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
CRSP or CSP certification required
demonstrated experience leading HSE programs in complex, multi-site environments
ICS Level 300 certification is required
experience in marine, petroleum, or industrial response environments is considered a strong asset
