Job Description

As our Manager, Health Information Mgmt, you will provide oversight for managing all health information management/medical record functions for selected outpatient areas. Every day you will ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will also provide ongoing consulting services to other hospital departments and clinics that maintain their own patient records, and support Compliance by providing ongoing training, education, and consulting services in the area of patient privacy, in compliance with the privacy regulations promulgated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. To be successful in this role, you will effectively manage comprehensive health information functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing expert consultation across departments, and championing patient privacy practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide oversight for managing all health information management/medical record functions for selected outpatient areas
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide ongoing consulting services to other hospital departments and clinics that maintain their own patient records
  • Support Compliance by providing ongoing training, education, and consulting services in the area of patient privacy
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Direct all Health Information Management functions
  • Establish policies, procedures, standards, and departmental objectives
  • Prepare budget for department
  • Maintain productivity requirements for HIM
  • Direct hiring and evaluation of staff
  • Provide direction regarding documentation, record completion requirements, release of information, and record storage
  • Provide input to the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program
  • Serve as a resource for hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families
  • Participate in appropriate committees and task forces

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree Health Information Management or related field
  • 4+ years Management experience
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Nice to have

  • Master's degree Health Information Management or related field
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
