Job Description

We’re seeking a visionary Manager, Government Relations to lead this transformation and own outcomes across our Company’s business portfolio. This role reports to the Vice President, Government Relations. The Manager of Government Relations plays a key role in developing and implementing government relations strategies to achieve company objectives.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist the Government Relations department with overall management of the government affairs activities of the Company
  • Coordinates efforts of outside lobbyists and consultants
  • Maintain strong working relationships with grassroots community organizations and industry trade associations
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate how potential changes in the legislative, regulatory, policy, and political environments could affect business
  • Operate at a high level of transparency and deliver on key performance indicators
  • Identify and provide appropriate influence in the development of legislation and policies
  • Partner with internal legal department on various matters
  • Ensure that the Company is compliant with all federal, state and local registration and lobbying disclosure laws
  • Develop a deep understanding of Verra Mobility’s business lines and the impact of legislation
  • Monitor federal, state, and regional legislative activity
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on government/legislative matters within the Company

Requirements

  • Candidate should reside in the DC National Capital Region (NCR)
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Significant level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • An energetic, very hands-on, self-motivated and self-managed person with a high degree of honesty, integrity and judgment
  • Extremely good judgment and integrity
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of government, legislative affairs, and/or campaign experience with advancing levels of responsibilities and duties
  • Experience interacting with lobbyists and elected officials is required
  • High-level ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • A thorough knowledge of public policy, political campaigns, public affairs and community outreach, as well extensive knowledge and experience in Government Relations, the legislative and regulatory process at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Ability to develop and implement successful political strategies
  • Ability to establish and work towards the bigger picture while still grasping the details
  • Strong PC skills especially Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Outstanding English, writing, presentation, and public speaking and communication skills, including at the executive level
  • Cyclical travel up to 50 percent depending on legislative calendars

  • Other advanced degrees are a plus
