Join a top employer and advance your career. Aplin has partnered with a global financial services leader to hire a Manager, Fund Accounting – Hedge Funds! This will be a permanent opportunity!

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and prepare financial reports and profit allocation statements, including calculation of Net Asset Value (NAV) in line with client deadlines
  • Act as primary liaison with clients regarding monthly reporting and inquiries
  • Review and ensure timely, accurate responses to client and external stakeholder requests
  • Supervise, mentor, and support fund accounting staff with monthly deliverables
  • Lead and manage a team of 5+ accounting professionals, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in fund administration processes
  • Participate in new client onboarding and fund launches, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to requirements
  • Review and enhance administrative and accounting procedures to improve NAV production efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, external regulations, and reporting standards
  • Support strategic departmental initiatives and ad hoc projects as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hedge fund or investment fund accounting, including exposure to derivatives and external investor reporting
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or CFA designation preferred (or near completion)
  • Strong understanding of investment strategies and financial products, including derivatives
  • Proven experience managing a team in a fast-paced fund administration environment
  • Exceptional analytical, financial reporting, and organizational skills
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a global operations model

  • Perform initial, detailed review of the quarterly NAV close process and quarterly financial statements prepared by the fund financial analysts inclusive of complex/illiquid assets accounting and valuation, fee and expense review and performance reporting
  • Liaise directly with external auditors throughout the year on complex transactions and accounting conclusions through to the completion of the year-end audited financial statements
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Oversee and directly review the work of financial analysts, who perform day to day verification of portfolio transactions and accounting data, inclusive of accounting records, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the preparation and review of capital calls, distributions and in responding to investor questions and requests for information
  • Work directly with fund controllers to monitor and project future fund cash flows for the treasury management process including capital calls, distributions, and fee calculations, as governed by fund agreements
  • Opportunity to engage with Fund Administrator, traders, brokers, and custodians to the extent any liquid assets are purchased to ensure timely settlement of trades, loans, and monitoring of pending transactions
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Active mentorship/coaching of accounting/finance team members
