Job Description

The Manager, Finance/Trade Finance will lead GoldenField’s finance function, overseeing financial reporting, treasury management, trade finance operations, and FX exposure. This is a role that requires a finance professional who understands both the discipline of financial controls and the practical realities of commodity export financing, including Letters of Credit, working capital cycles, and foreign currency management.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Finance & Trade Finance function, overseeing Treasury, Accounts Payable, Trade Documentation, and FX Management
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of GoldenField’s financial statements, management accounts, and regulatory filings
  • Manage the company’s working capital position, ensuring adequate liquidity across all active trade cycles
  • Oversee all trade finance facilities, including Letters of Credit, pre-export financing, and banking relationships with lenders and correspondent banks
  • Develop and manage GoldenField’s FX strategy, including currency exposure management, repatriation of export proceeds, and compliance with CBN regulations
  • Supervise the preparation and review of all trade documentation required for export transactions, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with commercial banks, development finance institutions, and trade finance providers
  • Prepare financial reports, budget analyses, and cash flow projections for the MD and GMD as required
  • Implement and enforce robust financial controls to prevent fraud, errors, and unauthorised transactions
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable tax obligations, including CIT, VAT, and WHT, and liaise with external auditors and tax consultants
  • Support the MD in structuring trade deals from a financial perspective, providing input on pricing, payment terms, and risk allocation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
  • ACA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is required
  • Minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a finance leadership role
  • Direct experience in trade finance, commodity trading finance, or export banking is strongly preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trade finance instruments, including Letters of Credit, documentary collections, and export financing facilities
  • Strong understanding of CBN foreign exchange regulations, export proceeds repatriation requirements, and FX risk management
  • High proficiency in financial modelling, management accounting, and cash flow management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex financial scenarios
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • able to develop and retain a high-performing finance team
  • Commercially minded and able to work closely with the MD and trading function to structure profitable, bankable transactions
  • Strong communication skills - ability to present financial positions clearly to non-finance senior stakeholders
