As an Environmental Manager you will provide expertise and recommend actions to senior refinery management regarding current and developing environmental issues which impact refinery operations. Design operationally effective environmental programs. Implement, coordinate, and monitor the overall effectiveness of these programs from both a company standpoint and for government requirements. Serve as point of contact for local, state and federal government regulatory agencies, attorneys, consultants, trade organizations and general public on environmental issues.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain up to date knowledge of existing and proposed environmental regulations to ensure continued compliance
Review and assists Valero legal counsel in determining the impact of environmental issues/legislation
Review and submit comments on state and federal proposed regulations to ensure the company's concerns are considered during the rulemaking process
Serve as a point of contact with government environmental agencies including city, county, state and federal to ensure compliance with regulations
Provide information and coordinate with these agencies
Work with the refinery organization to implement corrective action as needed to maintain compliance
Implement, modify and maintain record keeping procedures and report noncompliance to proper authorities
Negotiate with regulatory agencies to secure favorable environmental permits for the company
Review refinery processes and recommend changes to maintain compliance. These changes may include modifications to equipment or refinery processes
Participate in local environmental, safety and civic organizations to maintain current knowledge of activities in the community that may affect Valero
Provide a favorable perception of Valero's commitment to environmental issues
Provide direct supervision and guidance to Environmental Engineering staff, to ensure programs are effective from an environmental and operational standpoint
Design, implement, and maintain programs in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Review effectiveness and modify on-site programs to ensure goals of departments, standards of the company and regulatory requirements are met
Perform all duties following the safety guidelines established by the Refinery
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in chemical or environmental engineering or equivalent science degree required
10 years environmental experience in a refinery, or related industry, required
Work specifically in the environmental field with direct experience with agencies and permitting is required
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Ardmore Refinery, required
