Job Description:

As the Environment, Health and Safety Manager, you will step into a senior leadership role with significant scope to influence site performance. Portland Aluminium’s scale and technical diversity, which includes electrical, thermal, chemical and mechanical processes, creates an environment that is both challenging and rich in development opportunities. You will lead the site’s environment, health and safety strategy, build capability across operational and technical teams and ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements. Working collaboratively as part of the site leadership, you will contribute to informed decision making and strengthen the systems that support safe, reliable and sustainable operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the development and delivery of environment, health and safety strategies that support safe and sustainable operations
  • Coach and guide the environment, health and safety teams to build capability across the site
  • Maintain statutory environmental licences and ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including regulators & community influencers
  • Provide expert advice to site leaders on emerging environment, health and safety risks
  • Lead wellbeing, psychosocial risk management and early intervention initiatives
  • Strengthen a culture focused on hazard awareness, prevention and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • A formal tertiary qualification in Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, or other health related discipline
  • 10 + years experience improving environment, health and safety performance in resourcing sector or other high-risk environments
  • ICAM (or equivalent) investigation training
  • Working knowledge of occupational hygiene, high risk tasks, emergency response and psychosocial risks
  • Strong analytical and advisory capability across environmental compliance, hazard identification and incident prevention
  • Ability to partner with senior leaders, influence decisions and build effective collaboration
  • A demonstrated ability to strengthen safety culture and coach teams towards improved outcomes
