Reporting directly to the General Manager of Aurizon’s Network Operations, this is a challenging yet highly rewarding leadership opportunity. You’ll be supported by an exceptional team of superintendents and supervisors, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary group to ensure contractual obligations are delivered safely on time, and within budget. As a key leader, you will foster a high-performance culture, drive operational excellence, and optimise asset utilisation. Your focus will include continuous improvement and effective engagement with a large, geographically dispersed workforce across Central Queensland.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver a culture of safety, productivity, reliability, and customer service across a team of 300 permanent staff and daily support from a specialist contractor workforce
  • Budget oversight of over $100M, within your area of control, achieving budget outcomes through effective cost management, productivity initiatives with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Lead and manage major transformation programs and optimise asset management solutions
  • Manage geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary teams, and facilitate effective internal integration of supply and logistics chains
  • Support, advise and influence strategic and operational decision making of Network Operations to drive better business performance and commercial outcomes
  • As a manager of managers, develop and grow Network Operations leadership and trade core
  • Effectively represent Aurizon’s business interests with customers and local communities to meet operational business objectives
