Job Description

We are looking to hire a highly motivated Accounting Manager for our Revenue Accounting team, reporting to the Mobility Revenue Accounting Senior Manager. You will be part of a team that is critical to the company’s month end close process and SOX compliance. In this role, you will improve efficiency of close processes through automation, outsourcing, and work cross-functionally with Finance, Engineering, Cash accounting, Intercompany accounting to develop and enhance Uber’s internal financial systems, take ownership in management of key process controls, and be involved in supporting major projects that impact the entire accounting organization. We are seeking an open-minded, driven, and technically sound individual to challenge the status quo and someone who is passionate about process improvement. This role requires excellent communication, organization, and the ability to manage a team and work with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a team to complete month-end close for various General Ledger functions, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis of results, and close reporting packages
  • Manage outsourced operational activities, including service level agreements, and find opportunities to outsource activities or processes to our third-party service provider
  • Partner with FP&A and business partners to generate, record, reconcile, and maintain accrual balances and monthly budget versus actual analysis
  • Manage, lead, or assist with various special accounting projects, including the design and implementation of key financial systems, internal controls, M&A integrations, process efficiency, global close efficiency, audit readiness, and management reporting
  • Coordinate with regional compliance teams on statutory reporting and IFRS related matters
  • Ensure the account balances are reflected appropriately and according to the Uber accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform various analyses for total company and segment results for designated lines of business (trend analysis, fluctuation analysis), ensuring balances within Oracle and HFM are accurate
  • Coach and develop team to drive more accurate and efficient close processes
  • Ensure strong and effective internal control environment
  • Support audit requirements for both internal/external
  • Recommend to management updates to accounting policies that can be applied across multiple business groups
  • Lead resolution on open accounting problems across the business and take initiative to address them

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in RTR / Accounting / Finance
  • Prior experience reviewing month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and fluxes
  • Prior experience managing teams & outsourced vendor partners to deliver as per agreed goals, KPIs & other relevant metrics
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Proficiency in Vlookup, Macros, Pivots), with the ability to work on large volumes of data / datasets
  • Experience with process improvement and SOX compliance

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (M.Com) / CA / CPA / MBA (Finance)
  • Experience with large-scale ERP or accounting systems (Oracle R12, Hyperion Finance Management, and BlackLine preferred)
  • The ability to thrive in a changing environment and be able to work with senior management to influence decision making and work independently
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, combined with good business judgment

  • Knowledge of and basic ability to read and write SQL queries
