Manages the month-end close process, financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, team leadership, and budgeting for the accounting department within a major health system.
Job Responsibility:
Manages the month-end close process for areas of responsibility, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliation's, and supporting schedules
Reviews and approves financial statements and reports in accordance with AAH’s accounting policies and GAAP in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team
Manages the identification, research, development and implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements
Provides GAAP accounting guidance and support to the technical accounting and financial reporting team, tax team and others
Ensures ongoing compliance with AAH’s internal control program
Manages departmental continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies in work flow and implementation of new improved processes and procedures
Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale
Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives
Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct
Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by a State Board of Accountancy
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Typically requires 5 years of experience in accounting
Includes 3 years of management experience in accounting
Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and government rules and regulations
Proficient knowledge of general ledger and related financial and revenue cycle business intelligence systems (e.g. Workday and Epic)
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products
Experience in the preparation and review of health care financial statements, financial analytics and account analysis
Ability to understand and analyze the underlying business and its implications on financial accounting and reporting
Ability in managing and leading teams through all phases of complex accounting projects
Strong project management and process improvement skills
Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results
