The Accounting Principles & Advisory Manager is a key role withing the Accounting Competence Center team , which operates within the End-to-End Accounting & Reporting framework of VF Group, serving as a key decision-making authority for strategic accounting judgements and as a nexus for compliance assurance on group level for Vodafone's local markets. Within this, the Accounting Principles & Advisory team leads the application of IFRS and local GAAP policies as a part of Lean Corporate Services (LCS). It serves as a globally centralized hub responsible for overseeing the market-wide holistic appliance of accounting policies and reporting standards within Vodafone Group and its local markets. Any principle and complex accounting judgement is prepared, documented and governed by the team. Equipped with a broad range of IFRS and local GAAP expertise, the team is furthermore providing advisory services for the market organizations across the range commercial transactions. Accordingly, the Accounting Principles & Advisory team also supports strategic key projects to deliver compliant, consistent and accurate policy application for all business transactions across the markets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support in building, evolving and sustaining an efficient and effective organisation which assumes responsibility on accounting judgements and accounting advisory
  • Supports in digitising and evolving the accounting principles function, using new emerging technology to make accounting knowledge and principle decisions more accessible to wider VF organisation
  • Assumes responsibility for accounting from idea to implementation in major transformation projects, as well as for the coordination of complex and material recognition, valuation and presentation issues with Vodafone Group Reporting
  • Ensuring correct accounting in accordance with IFRS, VGIAP and local GAAP
  • Business partnering with commercial and finance units in relation to accounting issues, including identification of design options for the efficient implementation of the respective projects
  • Acts as backup for Accounting Principles & Advisory Lead
  • Responsible for close cooperation with auditors, VOIS, Group Finance and commercial units
  • Ensures continuous alignment with the CSO and relevant markets and be a role-model in collaborating with the wider Finance community
  • Supports in evolving a culture of proactive continuous improvement of processes, systems and people and provide a platform for the people to develop their career and employability

Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent)
  • University graduate, preferably from Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics (or equivalent)
  • 8+ year experience in finance, in-particular in all areas of finance operations either by practical delivery or through oversight
  • Track record in delivering major finance transformation projects
  • IT and data analytics literacy
  • Telecommunications industry experience and business acumen
  • Strong cooperation, coordination, communication and presentation skills
  • Solid understanding of how IFRS/ local policy is applied to commercial transactions
  • Functional leadership skills and experience in navigating project teams in a complex and changing/dynamic operating environment
  • Deep Technical financial and accounting skills
  • Excellent self-leadership, situational self-awareness and high resilience
  • Empathic with different personality types & deep interest in humans, embracing diversity for better outcomes
