Collaborate with: Vehicle integration teams (bogie, traction motor, suspension), Manufacturing and supply chain, Quality, testing, and validation teams
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Support customer discussions, technical clarifications, and design reviews.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Materials Engineering
Master’s degree is preferred
10+ years of experience in railway gearbox or heavy drivetrain design
Proven experience with materials selection and manufacturing process definition
Experience working with global railway OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is highly desirable
Deep knowledge of: Gear design theory and calculations, Failure modes (pitting, scuffing, tooth breakage), Bearings and lubrication systems
Strong understanding of: Metallurgy and heat treatment, Manufacturing tolerances and distortions, CAD expertise (any of the following): CATIA, Creo, NX, or SolidWorks
Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent)
GD&T and technical drawing standards
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to take technical ownership of complex systems
Effective communication with cross-functional and international teams
Mentoring mindset and technical leadership orientation
Nice to have:
Experience with noise and vibration reduction techniques
Knowledge of condition monitoring and predictive maintenance concepts
Exposure to cost engineering and value optimization
Prior experience with metro, high-speed rail, or heavy haul locomotives
