Performs mammography procedures and patient care in a hospital/breast health center setting. Requires specific training, certification, and licensing. Involves direct patient interaction, technical operation of equipment, adherence to safety and quality guidelines, and participation in a team environment.
Job Responsibility:
Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms on physician referred or self recommended patients according to established clinical protocols and MQSA Quality Guidelines
Prepares and processes patient clinical and demographic information, using Penrad and ensures the accuracy of historic and current information
Prepares mammographic images, scans documentation and determines when radiographic exam adheres to department standard for interpretation by the Radiologist
Provides pre-procedure, procedure and post-procedure education and instruction to the patient appropriate to the patient's needs and requirements
Delivery of Patient Care and a "Service First" approach in accordance with departmental standards of continued quality improvement
Performs mammography equipment quality control and quality assurance tests established to meet MQSA Qualaity Control/Quality Assurance Standards and equipment manufacturer's recommendations
Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hasards
Requirements:
Graduate of an approved AMA Radiologic Technology Program
Completion of Training in Mammography speciality
Knowledge of breast anatomy
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle anxious and fearful patients
Demonstrated technical skills as a mammographer
Knowledge of mammography positioning
Registered in Mammography-ARRT (M)
IDNS License
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
Maintain CPR Certification
