Job Description

Under the direction of the Radiologist, the Radiology Technologist (Mammography Technologist) performs a variety of digital mammography procedures, including screening and diagnostic exams, wire localizations, galactography, biopsy procedures, DEXA exams, and quality control. The Radiology Technologist (Mammography Technologist) ensures high-quality care is provided to the patient while meeting the needs of the organization, regulatory agencies, physicians, and staff. A working knowledge and experience in Digital Mammography, sterile technique, and documentation and record-keeping are essential for success in this role. This position requires the ability to work independently, provide excellent patient care and communication, and demonstrate a commitment to our Core Values.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs a variety of digital mammography procedures, including screening and diagnostic exams, wire localizations, galactography, biopsy procedures, DEXA exams, and quality control
  • Assures that the rights of the patient/family are respected and maintained
  • Allows for privacy and modesty in the provision of care
  • Identifies self by name and title to patient/family
  • Determines presence/type of Advanced Directive
  • Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect, if identified
  • Understands role of, and how to access, the Bioethics Committee

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years prior experience as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Current CA Radiology Technologist license
  • Current Mammographic Permit
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Digital Training Documentation
  • Graduate of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • Must provide documentation of Digital Mammography Tomo training (8 hrs) Mammography Experience (200 exams in previous 24 months) and Mammography Continuing Education (15 hrs in previous 36 months)
  • Able to operate radiologic equipment
  • Good communication and patient care skills
