This individual must be comfortable taking ownership of a station, leading service in a private dining room, taking food and beverage orders, assisting with wine and cocktail service, and supporting the front-of-house team wherever needed. Job Responsibility
Serve as a visible and active presence on the restaurant floor throughout service
Welcome and engage guests, ensuring a warm, personalized, and memorable dining experience
Support service teams by stepping into captain roles and managing guest interactions when necessary
Maintain awareness of dining room flow, guest satisfaction, and service standards at all times
Assist management in ensuring seamless coordination between the dining room, bar, and kitchen teams
Take food and beverage orders with confidence and detailed menu knowledge
Provide recommendations and guide guests through the dining experience
Deliver elevated hospitality and anticipate guest needs throughout service
Handle guest concerns professionally and efficiently, ensuring prompt resolution
Develop relationships with regular guests and maintain detailed knowledge of guest preferences
Independently oversee private dining rooms and special events
Act as the primary point of contact for guests hosting private functions
Coordinate service timing and execution with culinary and management teams
Ensure all private events are executed to Café Boulud's standards of excellence
Assist with bar operations during service as needed
Possess strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, and beverage service standards
Prepare and serve beverages when business demands require additional support
Collaborate with bartenders and sommeliers to deliver a seamless guest experience
Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail
Support training and development of hosts, captains, and service staff
Foster a culture of hospitality, teamwork, and accountability
Communicate effectively with managers and team members to ensure successful service execution
Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or Michelin-starred restaurants
Strong background as a Captain, Maitre D', Lead Server, or Front-of-House Supervisor
Proven ability to manage a dining room section and provide elevated table-side service
Experience overseeing private dining rooms and special events preferred
Knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage service
Exceptional communication, organization, and guest relations skills
Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-paced environment
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout service
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
