The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has primary responsibility for performing mechanical equipment maintenance for the assigned facility.
Job Responsibility:
Practices safety in all actions, including start up- shut down & lockout/ tag out
Exhibits excellent forklift / highboy skills
Performs all necessary installation, repair, trouble shooting, and other assignments related to the skills of the mechanical technician
Works with the Master Mechanic or designee to schedule preventive maintenance
Completes, maintains, and processes all necessary documents pertaining to repairs, purchases and other appropriate activities
Displays strong, problem-solving skills
Trains other maintenance technicians and maintenance helpers
Examines plant systems to diagnose problems and prevent failures
Provides maintenance on plant mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and other systems, plus general maintenance, with limited supervision
Consults with Maintenance Supervisor and presents results and alternatives
Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts mechanical parts as necessary
Within the scope of knowledge, and abilities, installs new equipment
Works under the guidance of peers, master mechanics, or the Facility Engineer
Performs general maintenance work
Displays team player characteristics
Works under minimal direction and supervision
Displays strong oral and written communication skills
Recognizes the “customer,” and is flexible in changing priorities as required by the customer
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalency
A combination of 5+ years of industrial electrical & mechanical training and experience
Ability to use hand tools and power tools
Knowledge of various trade fundamentals sufficient to deal with general repairs
Works well in groups and individually
Demonstrated ability to perform all job duties
Strong math, reading, communication, and organizational skills
Solid working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office suite, internet accessibility)
Must possess skills in mechanics (pumps, gearboxes, machinery repair)
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of basic hand tool
Nice to have:
Strong presentation skills and communication skills
Ability to maintain good documentation
Ability to perform duties with a minimal amount of supervision
Familiarity with CMMS, preventive, and predictive maintenance
Certified to work on refrigeration, chillers, and A/C units
Pipefitting, plumbing, and related skills
Strong mechanical and electrical background
Computer experience
PLC experience with programming and troubleshooting skills
Machining skills
Ability to prioritize tasks
Understanding of all types of instrumentation and calibrations
