To provide the highest standard of service to patients and Staff at the Hermitage Clinic by offering an efficient 24-hour service. To deputise for Head of Facilities, Deputy Head of Facilities.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise maintenance team to carry out their responsibilities
Plan, allocate and evaluate work carried out by members of the maintenance team
Deputise for the Facility Manager/Deputy Facility Manager
Maintain and develop the Hospitals Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure and systems
Maintain the Hospitals Buildings, fabric and Décor to a high standard
Maintain the Hospitals Maintenance Management Systems Asset Register, Planned Preventative maintenance routines, planned and unplanned work orders
Monitor and manage external contractors working in the hospital
Co-ordinate the training of electrical apprentices in electrics, plumbing and Mechanical
Implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance procedures for M&E and works carried out by other engineers and apprentices/trainees in addition to JCIA requirements
Maintenance of M&E, JCIA, manuals and records
Change / carry out / Review risk assessments and of new procedures/SOPs as required by JCIA, law, new standards etc
Support HOD in the co-ordination role in dealing with any security, Health and Safety incident
Maintenance of Fire Safety equipment and Systems
Maintenance of Nurse call systems, Pod system
Take part in Generator Testing
Take a lead role in the Hospitals water safety group
Take a lead role in the Hospitals Legionella prevention programme
Take part in the Electrical safety group
Take part in the ventilation safety group
Member of Fire Team
Member of the Health and Safety committee
Organise and supervise Insurance inspections of the Hospital buildings, Lifts, lifting equipment and pressurised vessels and action any recommendations as appropriate
Ensure that the hospital is at all times compliant with statutory regulations of all aspects under the control of the engineering/facilities department
Approving purchase orders for M+E
Materials and services to Supervisor level and HOD level when on leave
Issuing purchase orders and payment etc
Initiate value for money programmes
Quality assurance on new building works
Installation commissioning, snagging and de-snagging
Attend Site & Design Team meetings
Consultant Design Team fees, fee proposals, purchase orders and payment etc
Communicate with HOD re. Maintenance, budgets and management of Department
Accept constructive advice from Head of Department or others if necessary
Communicate with staff and patients re. Maintenance etc. in the hospital
Always deal with every problem no matter how simple or difficult
Always give feedback in a timely fashion
Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other members of the Engineering Team
Communicate in a manner avoiding antagonism and reduces conflict and prevents undue anxiety
Recognise self-limitations and seek assistance
Attend and contribute to appropriate meetings
Report all incidents immediately which may adversely affect a patient, colleague or the Hermitage Clinic
Accept criticism and advice when appropriate
To present and act in a professional manner at all times and ensure colleagues do likewise
Member of rota to provide 6 over 7 cover for any problems that may occur and to deal with them in a quick and efficient manner
Support the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Hermitage Clinic in the Mission Statement
Observes the appropriate lines of authority
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and the activities of the Hermitage Clinic
Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in all areas of the Hospital/Clinic as required
Demonstrate flexibility by working according to the workload demands of the Hospital/Clinic
Participate in developing and providing quality care within the Hermitage Clinic Mission Statement
Assist in orientation of new personnel
Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills and seek outside educational opportunities
Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress code, hygiene and infection control policies of the clinic

Requirements:
Electrical Trade Qualification
Minimum 4 years post qualification experience
Demonstrate leadership skills and the capacity for vision to lead and manage change
Motivate staff to function efficiently in times of change
Initiate value for money programmes by being pro-active in ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources
Demonstrate the ability to evaluate information, solve problems and make effective decisions
Strong knowledge of BMS systems
Valid work permission for the Republic of Ireland
Nice to have:
Health care experience highly desirable
Knowledge of BMS, Nurse call, Electrical, HVAC, Med Gasses
