Job Description:

The Maintenance Plumber position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the facilities and grounds at Sandhills Global with a focus on plumbing maintenance, install and repairs on campus. Prior experience and knowledge in general plumbing is required. It will require a significant amount of independent judgement and initiative to identify and diagnose problems and implement preventative maintenance. Additional duties include performing repairs to furniture and equipment, moving furniture and equipment, ensuring maintenance schedules are followed, and monitoring plumbing systems. Position may also have exposure to different types of equipment in general maintenance such as geothermal heat pump system, chiller with water cooling tower, roof top air handling units, exhaust fans, boilers and more. This position will be expected to help repair and maintain this equipment with minimal supervision. Seasonal duties include snow removal and grounds keeping responsibilities. This includes lawn mower, tractor, snow blower and power tool operation. Will also work with outside contractors for inspections and large projects. Responding in a prompt, professional manner to employee needs and concerns is an important aspect of this position. Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Prior maintenance, mechanical, groundskeeping, plumbing experience required
  • Industrial trouble shooting experience
  • Ability/experience reading blueprints preferred
  • Certifications within the plumbing field preferred
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license
  • Stable and progressive work history
  • Hard working self starter
  • Willing to accept responsibility and initiative
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Willing to learn
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Vendor management skills
  • Ability to read and fully understand cautions and warnings
  • General understanding of safety precautions (i.e., power equipment, cleaners, etc.)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at least four feet high
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work at extreme heights
  • Ability to assist with snow removal and groundskeeping when needed (i.e., shovel snow, operate mower, etc.)
