At ORLA, we are creating vibrant student living communities across Europe where people feel safe, supported, and genuinely at home. We are now looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team in L’Aquila and help maintain a safe, high-quality and welcoming environment for our residents. This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days are the same. You will play a key part in ensuring the property is maintained to a high standard, responding to maintenance requests efficiently and supporting the overall student experience within the residence. If you are practical, proactive, customer-focused and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the property
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and reported faults
  • Support statutory compliance and routine maintenance inspections
  • Undertake general repairs and minor maintenance works
  • Monitor the condition and presentation of the building and communal areas
  • Support contractor management and ensure permits and sign-in procedures are followed
  • Assist with fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks and health & safety procedures
  • Carry out basic plumbing, electrical and repair tasks where appropriate
  • Support student check-in and check-out activities
  • Assist with emergency response procedures and make-safe works where required
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and helpdesk updates
  • Promote a safe, secure and positive living environment for residents

Requirements

  • Previous experience within maintenance, facilities, property, hospitality or residential environments
  • Practical maintenance skills and a proactive attitude
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible and reliable approach to work
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using systems and reporting tools
  • Availability to work weekends or participate in call-out rotas where required

  • Perform routine and reactive maintenance tasks across our healthcare and residential facilities, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and general upkeep
  • Inspect and test building systems and equipment to identify faults or potential issues, ensuring timely repairs or escalation as needed
  • Assist with the coordination of external contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and organisational policies
  • Support the Facilities Management team in managing inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
