As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our buildings and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with relevant regulations. You will work closely with the Facilities Management team and other departments to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, helping to create a comfortable and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Job Responsibility
Perform routine and reactive maintenance tasks across our healthcare and residential facilities, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and general upkeep
Inspect and test building systems and equipment to identify faults or potential issues, ensuring timely repairs or escalation as needed
Assist with the coordination of external contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, reports, and compliance documentation
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and organisational policies
Support the Facilities Management team in managing inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimise disruption to services and ensure safety
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance operations
Requirements
Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities operative role, preferably within Health, Nursing & Social Care or Facilities Management environments
Good practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines including basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs
Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices relevant to maintenance work
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and prioritising tasks
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
Willingness to undertake training and development relevant to the role
Valid UK driving licence is desirable
