Job Description:

Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all mechanical equipment in a chemical plant that operates on a 24 hour / 7 day schedule. Rotating on-call status will be expected for off hour support. Commitment to excellence in EHS and Quality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all chemical plant mechanical equipment
  • Learn proper methods for equipment and safety inspections
  • Inspect equipment for defects and record all repairs in the CMMS system
  • Write and perform preventative maintenance tasks
  • Be available for call out rotations and be able to work autonomous after learning the plants protocol for maintenance repairs
  • Become familiar with the plant’s utilities to include monitoring, preventative, and corrective maintenance on the equipment
  • Become familiar with relevant maintenance department SOPs
  • Learn the plant processes and hazards associated with them
  • Be safety conscious and follow the plant safety policies and procedures
  • Become familiar with the proper PPE task requirements
  • Actively participate in safety committee, near miss reporting, incident investigations, and safety housekeeping inspections
  • Complete and initiate the proper documentation of work orders in the maintenance system

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent level as a minimum education
  • Pass a routine physical examination and drug test
  • Lift and control a minimum of 50-pound load from floor level to standing position
  • Regularly walk, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, etc. both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
  • Operate power tools such as a drill press, band saw, grinders, etc.
  • Operate torches, welders, cutters, etc.
  • Operate plant vehicles, such as forklift and boom lift
  • Operate basic hand tools, measurement and test equipment
  • Self motivated, quality and safety conscious individual
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written, and read and follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the willingness to learn from and train others

Nice to have:

  • Additional course work, technical training, apprenticeship, etc, is desirable
  • Millwright training/experience is desired
