Job Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all repairs and maintenance of equipment and support structures. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Job Responsibility:

  • Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements including rigging
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Start devices to test their performance
  • Lubricates and cleans parts
  • Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a maintenance mechanic is required to include gas, diesel, pneumatics and hydraulic equipment
  • Certificate of welding ability is preferred
  • Must have all required hand tools
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull in excess of 100 pounds frequently
  • Able to climb to heights in excess of 300 feet
  • Able to lift your own weight while climbing ladders, steel bracing, stairs, etc.
  • Able to crawl in small or tight places
  • Job requires bending, stooping, and carrying
  • Exposed to temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise
  • Able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required
