Maintenance Mechanic II plays a critical role in supporting dairy manufacturing operations by ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. This position focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, food production environment.
Job Responsibility:
Observe and comply with all safety policies, GMP standards, Global Food Safety practices, and housekeeping requirements
Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures in accordance with safety regulations
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant production equipment, including conveyors, compressors, chillers, boilers, wastewater systems, robots, VFDs, PLCs, and programmable controllers
Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement corrective solutions
Execute preventive maintenance based on established PM schedules
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete required reports, logs, and work orders
Dismantle, rebuild, fabricate, and reassemble equipment and components as needed
Perform mild and stainless steel welding, including sanitary welding applications
Maintain plant equipment to maximize uptime, line speed, and operational efficiency
Identify opportunities for operational improvements related to downtime, spoilage, and production flow
Train team members on equipment operation and safe work practices
Coordinate with vendors and contractors when necessary
Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely ordering of parts and services
Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
Investigate recurring equipment failures and develop action plans to prevent repeat issues
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Complete special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical repair
Working knowledge of fabrication, machine shop tools, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Ability to read and follow schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints
