The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Estates maintenance strategy under the instruction of the Chief Engineer at RBG Kew. The maintenance strategy underpins the standards required and constant availability of the built facilities. These standards and service levels being commensurate with a UNESCO World Heritage Site of major significance, and a centre of excellence for botanical science.
Job Responsibility:
To manage the In-House Estates Operations and Maintenance team and 3rd party specialist contractors in the delivery and implementation of the planned preventative and emergency and reactive maintenance within RBG Kew's Estate in accordance with the maintenance programme and best practice.
Deploying and managing the financial and physical resources available to the section in the most cost-effective manner.
This includes care and protection for the collections and making sure buildings are fit for purpose, prioritisation of allocated resources and management of contracted services to ensure the business can operate without loss of functions.
Requirements:
Relevant engineering, construction and/or engineering training/building services training and educated to HNC, or, ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
Significant senior level management experience.
Significant experience of managing in-house and outsourced estates management service delivery ensuring deadlines and targets are adhered to.
