The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading a multi-discipline team on Amgen’s Singapore Manufacturing site which have a small molecule chemical synthesis and a single use biotech manufacturing facility. The incumbent will be responsible for Maintenance and Utilities Operations to ensure the reliability of the utilities and process equipment in accordance to the maintenance philosophy. This position will report to the Sr Manager Engineering and will require to be available for shifts.
Job Responsibility:
Support the development of a Maintenance Vision, Mission, Strategies, and Goals
Manage the maintenance department that provides technical, project management, emergency response, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance support for facilities and related equipment
Support consistent global maintenance and operational practices throughout sites
Function as a technical expert to equipment or systems regarding troubleshooting operational issues and point of contact during compliance inspections
Supports the development, maintenance, and justification of the department budgets
Oversee the development, revision, review, and approval of Standard Operating Procedures/Job Plans that are owned by the maintenance department
Support project engineering in the justification, prioritization, and coordination of manufacturing projects
Maintain an environment that promotes maintenance flexibility, consistent maintenance practices, and efficient operations
Provide oversight of maintenance team in biologics / Synthetics manufacturing facilities
Manage staff performance and career development
Coach and mentor engineers to develop their technical competency and leadership skills
Identify, recruit and retain talent
Effectively manage talent via goals, objectives, and staff development activities
Create and sustain an environment allowing for professional and personal growth through open communication, trust and respect
Provide support to improve safety, compliance, efficiency and effective execution of maintenance work orders
Ensure staff have sufficient training and certifications as required to perform work
Develop, review and maintain Risk Assessments (RA)
Partner with EHSS to continuously improve safety performance and ensure environmental compliance
Partner with Compliance and Quality Assurance Departments to ensure maintenance operational strategies are in alliance with our compliance commitments
Audit work orders to assure proper procedure and documentation practices are being followed
Initiate and own deviations or non-conformances (NC) related to Utilities, Maintenance, and Calibration
Partner with System Owners and QA to ensure timely closure of Work Orders and Alarm Response
Responsible for 24 x 7 utility operations
Manage overall interface with Planning & Scheduling Team to coordinate all planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure on-time completion
Coordinate daily work schedule and work assignments with craft leads
Support qualification of all maintenance & calibration service providers with support from Corporate Engineering
Solicit recommendations from technicians and implement job plan and procedure improvements
Work with System Owners to address system troubleshooting and drive improvements to system reliability
Provide leadership and technical expertise for maintenance strategy for equipment and systems
Evaluate equipment and instrumentation maintenance and failure history and recommend and implement improvements
Recommend and support implementation of improvements to maintenance instructions including Job Plans, Spare Parts Lists and Forms
Effectively communicate with key customers and support groups regarding maintenance activities
Ensure Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data is accurate and aligned with maintenance strategy
Effectively communicate and utilize key performance indicators for maintenance management
Support overall plant shutdowns and maintenance activities
Assure the appropriate level of trainings for all levels of the maintenance organization such as cGMP’s, technical, SOP’s, compliance trainings and maintain records for staff
Ensure staff is current on required GMP and task proficiency training
Cross-train staff on multi-discipline skills as part of flexible workforce plan
Coordinate off site training required for staff development
Provide technical expertise to assess emerging industry trends and partner with vendors/networks to determine innovative opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, agility and differentiation
Continuously improve Business Intelligence capabilities
Benchmark equipment performance (e.g. reliability, productivity) and determine improvement plans
Assess predictive technologies for implementation
Requirements:
Doctorate degree
Master’s degree and 2 years of directly related experience
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of directly related experience
Diploma and 8 years of directly related experience
Preferred people management experience with demonstrated leadership and management skills
Demonstrated track record of people development
Demonstrated experience in forming-leading-facilitating-inspiring teams
Ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders in a cross functional
cross cultural environment
Ability to generate feasible and efficient solutions to solve problems and capitalize on new opportunities
