Join us for this incredible opportunity to be part of our Engineering team as a maintenance I at Grand Hyatt Kauai located in Poipu, Hawaii. We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance I with strong refrigeration experience to support the daily operations of our Engineering department at Grand Hyatt Kauai. This role is critical in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our resort's HVAC/R systems and mechanical infrastructure while also providing guidance, training, and support to team members while maintaining a high level of technical performance and professionalism.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain and repair refrigeration systems, including kitchen, cold storage, and HVAC/R equipment
  • Perform mechanical equipment preventive maintenance (PM)
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Perform guest room repairs, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance items
  • Support maintenance and operation of kitchen and laundry equipment
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and on-the-job training to engineering team members
  • Perform scope of work in all maintenance classifications, consistent with operational needs
  • Respond to service calls across the property in a timely manner
  • Assist with large-scale repairs and engineering projects as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to support operational needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Strong Commercial Refrigeration background (5 years minimum)
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • A2L Certification
  • Experience with HVAC/R systems and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of: Kitchen equipment
  • Laundry equipment
  • Plumbing systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and support team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must provide full availability

Nice to have

  • Hospitality maintenance experience preferred
  • Trades license or certification preferred but not required
