The Maintenance Group Leader oversees skilled trades employees within a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the General Motors Wentzville plant. This role is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations, supporting equipment reliability, driving safety initiatives, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Lead, coach, and develop skilled trades employees to support safety, productivity, and performance goals
Plan and direct daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance
Conduct team meetings and communicate daily priorities and operational updates
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and plant safety standards
Support hiring, training, employee development, and performance management activities
Collaborate with plant leadership and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability
Monitor maintenance performance metrics, labor utilization, and operational trends to support continuous improvement
Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client expectations
Requirements
Requires at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
Requires 1-2 years of experience in a management role of union employees
Must be able to work evenings
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Ability to manage as part of a larger team or manage function independently, without direct supervision
