Supervises two or more full-time skilled technicians who perform field maintenance, inspection, installation or repairs of in one or more areas such as system protection (line locates and inspections of the distribution system), replacing and installing meters, service (tap) and system connections, inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing valves, hydrants and back flow devices, flushing and flow testing, routine and emergency valve shutouts and inspection and documentation of fire and service line installations. Is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions, including industrial / commercial accounts.
Job Responsibility:
Supervises two or more full-time skilled technicians who perform field maintenance, inspection, installation or repairs
Assigns personnel to shifts and plans daily schedules to provide inspection and testing, service /meter connection installations, valves, hydrants and back flow devices
Troubleshoot complex maintenance issues and assist with problem resolution
Maintain accurate records of work orders, materials used, labor hours, and service reports
Coordinate with operations, vendors, and customers as needed
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and company vehicles
Enforce safety policies and promote a culture of safe work practices
Manage inventory levels and order necessary materials and supplies
Participate in emergency response and after-hours support as required
Oversees the human resource functions of assigned team including hiring and firing, performance appraisals, coaching and counseling team
Prepares work orders either manually or from a system as required and prepares work related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements
Establishes inspection and maintenance schedules for service lines, replacements and leaks
Assists in diagnosing and evaluating complex equipment and process failures
Ensures that consistent field service and quality assurance procedures are followed
Provides leadership in achieving safety goals
Proactively manages safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal and State standards
Ensures that equipment, field service vehicles and work areas are clean and properly disposes of waste
May occasionally be called upon to fill in or help handle excess field service demands
Oversees day-to-day operations
Initiates and communicates personnel actions
Models and teaches compliance with all work practices, policies and procedures
Must follow established operational, process control, safety and emergency response procedures
Determines the means or process of achieving the objectives established at higher levels
Specifies and oversees what is done at lower levels
Is expected to evaluate methods and processes and recommend improvements
Must be proactive to prevent non-compliances and to act when a challenging situation has the potential for worsening
Ensures that business initiatives and goals are effectively communicated to employees

Requirements:
At least five years experience in a related position in a similar environment with ability to comprehend all specifications, drawings and manuals
Lead experience or supervisory training required with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety
Vocational training with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (maps, operational, maintenance, safety and quality instructions) and ability to carry out and give verbal and written instructions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Mechanical aptitude required, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, panels, computer consoles and other equipment
Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)
Must demonstrate ability to efficiently inspect, maintain, install and repair any equipment
Must demonstrate effective skills in troubleshooting, problem solving and team building
Consistently demonstrates the ability to work well and communicate (verbal and written) with staff, clients, management and the general public
PC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software for preparing work related reports, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements
Ability to use computer systems for preparing work orders and purchasing requisitions
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site
Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures
Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site. Must demonstrate knowledge of current and pending water treatment standards, regulations and federal, state and local laws and codes
Must have and maintain a valid cross-connection certification if required at site
Must possess a valid driver’s license CDL (commercial license and heavy equipment operator license is desirable) and a safe driving record
