The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and safety of manufacturing and utility assets through effective preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices. The role ensures strict compliance with Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards, food safety (GMP, HACCP), and Unilever Engineering & Maintenance standards. The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in minimizing breakdowns, improving asset performance, optimizing maintenance costs, and driving continuous improvement using UMS, AM/PM, and PM methodologies, while coaching and developing technicians and operators.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance plans
Define asset maintenance strategies based on criticality and OEM recommendations
Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production losses
Manage spare parts strategy and inventory with Supply Chain
Maintain asset and work order data in SAP PM
Execute corrective, preventive, and breakdown maintenance safely and effectively
Lead root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA
Improve MTBF, MTTR, and overall equipment reliability
Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and equipment handover
Coordinate with contractors and OEMs for specialized activities
Act as a safety role model ensuring compliance with LOTO and PTW
Coach and develop technicians and operators
Deploy TPM pillars including AM and PM
Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
Support energy, water, and waste reduction initiatives
Ensure GMP and food safety compliance
Participate in audits and close findings
Support shutdown planning and execution
Execution & planning of other projects assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
3–7 years of maintenance experience in FMCG or manufacturing industries
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation systems
Experience with utilities systems
Working knowledge of RCA, PM and CMMS tools
Strong safety mindset
Excellent communication and teamwork
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice to have:
Knowledge and understanding of Lean principles, manufacturing excellence
Power BI, Digital Dashboards and CMMS understanding
