We are seeking a high-caliber Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Derby. This is a critical role ensuring the reliability of plant machinery during our peak production period. If you are a night owl who thrives on technical problem-solving and wants a premium hourly rate, this is the contract for you.

Job Responsibility

  • Rapidly diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Executing scheduled inspections and servicing on a variety of automated equipment
  • Utilizing PLC diagnostics (Siemens/Allen Bradley) to trace faults and restore production
  • Ensuring all work is carried out to strict health, safety, and quality standards

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 (NVQ/City & Guilds) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven track record in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong electrical bias with proficiency in 3-phase systems, motors, invertors, and PLC fault finding
  • A disciplined approach to working permanent nights and a commitment to the contract duration

  • To provide backup as engineering shift relief cover in the event of annual leave, training or other absence within the engineering team. Ensuring minimum staffing arrangements are always maintained and covering your opposite shift team members when required
  • Accurately reporting of all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks
  • Attend Weekly Team meetings and Quarterly Team Meetings when scheduled
  • Completing the shift handover reports, ensuring that significant events or activities are noted and effectively communicated to oncoming shifts and management
  • Actively participate and complete Health and Safety compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular attendance/completion of scheduled Toolbox Talks
