Job Responsibility

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns with precision.
  • Take breakdown calls as primary or backup status as assigned to ensure seamless operations.
  • Craft and sketch electrical services for machinery to support continuous improvement.
  • Perform electrical maintenance on Radio Frequency generators.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Mechanics on machinery repairs and maintenance.
  • Apply your PLC knowledge to perform troubleshooting
  • Install new electrical services with or without electrical drawings.
  • Mark wiring changes on drawings to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strictly adhere to preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment.

Requirements

  • 3 plus years’ experience (inclusive of apprenticeship hours)
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Ontario Grade 12 Equivalency program
  • Must hold a valid provincial certification as an Industrial Electrician license (442A)
  • Must have PLC knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated use of advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to determine the root cause of complex machine failures.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proof of apprenticeship

Nice to have

  • Post-secondary Degree in Engineering or Science
  • Previous Manufacturing experience in a GMP environment.
  • Experience in the food or manufacturing industry.
  • Previous experience with Radio Frequency Heat Sealing welding process.
  • Practical experience using Lean tools (6S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).

  • Ability to read and update schematics/diagrams, as well as follow electrical preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintain and repair automated equipment (packaging machinery), hydraulic equipment, compressor and refrigeration units, freezer doors, scale, electronic boards, AC/DC drives, PLC, electric hoists, pumps, microwave equipment, and all food processing equipment within our facility.
  • Ability to be assigned projects, scope the work, order the materials, complete the job on time and on budget, and passing electrical inspection.
  • Troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Maintain lighting inside and outside of plant.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is ready for production start-up.
  • Responsible for repairs on worn out or damaged equipment.
  • Perform needed equipment modification and fabrication.
  • Assist production, sanitation, and other support groups when needed.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Sanitation Practices (GSP).

  • Plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles
  • Will be required to understand and baseline the current state in terms of the effectiveness of work order planning and scheduling and cost (materials, resources, time) implications
  • Master the basics of the CMMS system utilized at the plant (i.e. SAP-PM) and become knowledgeable with system reporting and work order systems and methods – gaps will be identified, and a formal improvement plan developed and put into place
  • Work with all plant groups & levels and within each of the aspect of the equipment maintenance team, including suppliers, OEM representatives, contractors, internal and external auditors, and all SQF, GMP and Supply Chain (purchasing) groups
  • Optimize and effectively accomplish all work and work orders (from break down to condition based) and lead in the development of rules and controls over the planning and scheduling efforts
  • Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related down time and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for the plant.
