Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to specific department guidelines. This role is considered safety sensitive.
Job Responsibility:
Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs
Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock
Experience in reading and troubleshooting from blueprints & schematics with system voltages 240 and 480 three-phase systems
Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment
Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work
Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring
Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment
Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades
Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels
Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives
Install and maintain (point to point wiring, equipment replacement) programmable logic control systems (PLC)
Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls
Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications
Design layout work on panels, set up complex control systems, interpret and alter engineering drawings and wiring diagrams if required
Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, panels and small mechanical devices such as motors
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems
Participate in the on-the-job training of line mechanics and apprentices as needed
Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information
Observe safe work practices and ensure work does not endanger others
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years of electrical industrial maintenance experience
Journeyman’s License or equivalent degree preferred
Proficient reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
