Job Description

This is a 2nd shift Maintenance Controls Engineer role. As Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems in the plant. This work requires the ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair activities of plant equipment; responsible to manage and execute plant launches and projects; the ability to make decisions based on established tools, applications, and procedures; and is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of General Motors Global Manufacturing System, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Flexible to support cross functional departments and shift schedules.

Job Responsibility

  • Technical resource for plant electricians
  • Supervise project installations by contractors and plant electricians
  • Develop and plan electrical projects
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing operation
  • Design and modify electrical control circuits and programs
  • Support plant continuous improvement activity
  • Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system
  • Thorough understanding of GM Safety policies, specifications, and audit module requirements

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Mechatronics degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in PLC Programming
  • 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing systems
  • Proficiency in industrial networking protocols – Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP and EthernetIP
  • HMI software – Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal, and Rockwell FactoryTalk View
  • PLC hardware – Rockwell ControlLogix family, Siemens 300, and Fanuc LEP
  • Servo drive systems: Siemens 840D CNC, Siemens G120 family, Fanuc 35i CNC, and Rockwell Powerflex / Kinetix
  • This position will require overtime and off-shift production support
