Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for the role of full-time Maintenance Operative at our Nursing Centre. Previous experience of working in a trade is essential. It would also be an advantage to have had experience of working in a care home. We would be especially interested to receive applications from anyone skilled in a trade (e.g. Painting and Decorating / Carpentry / Plastering / plumbing / electrical, etc). As part of the Maintenance Team, your role will include a variety of tasks to help maintain the overall building and the equipment used to provide care for our residents.

  • Follow all assigned fueling instructions
  • Fabricate new tools and equipment as needed
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules for all hatchery equipment such as hydroelectric turbine generators, diesel generators, front-end loaders, pickup trucks, gas pumps, outboard motors, welders, cement mixers, steam cleaners, pressure washers, snow removal equipment, and power tools
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and necessary repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure operational efficiency
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine solutions by referencing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Complete architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical system preventative maintenance as assigned
  • Perform general cleaning, painting, and repairs to roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other building components
