Job Description:

We are looking for reliable and proactive Maintenance Assistants who are dedicated to making every moment count. Successful applicants will help ensure the care home is safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently, contributing to the comfort and wellbeing of our residents.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work
  • Conduct regular checks on safety systems, including fire alarms and emergency lighting
  • Carry out painting, decorating, and general upkeep of the building and grounds
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and infection control procedures
  • Assist with setting up rooms, moving furniture, and assembling equipment as required
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to promptly address any maintenance issues
  • Maintain records of maintenance work and report any significant issues to management
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role (preferably in a care home or similar setting)
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.

  • Follow all assigned fueling instructions
  • Fabricate new tools and equipment as needed
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules for all hatchery equipment such as hydroelectric turbine generators, diesel generators, front-end loaders, pickup trucks, gas pumps, outboard motors, welders, cement mixers, steam cleaners, pressure washers, snow removal equipment, and power tools
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and necessary repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure operational efficiency
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine solutions by referencing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Complete architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical system preventative maintenance as assigned
  • Perform general cleaning, painting, and repairs to roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other building components
