Job Description

Harbour Healthcare are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant in Bolton. Your role will include ensuring all legal documents are completed, to carry out day to day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds in order to ensure that the Care Centre is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order. You will also be required to be on call but only for Emergencies.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure all legal documents are completed on time
  • Carry out day to day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds
  • Keep sheds, outbuildings and waste storage areas clean and tidy
  • Clear snow and grit drive, paths and access areas
  • Maintain gardens, flower beds, hanging baskets etc
  • Clean all signs and lighting outside the Care Centre
  • Carry out patching up or touching up of decoration
  • Test fire alarm system weekly and log results
  • Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices, fire emergency lights
  • Keep ventilation units and lights clean
  • Replace defective light bulbs/diffusers
  • Test portable appliances
  • Test and record water temperatures
  • Maintain a Maintenance Book for defects
  • Assist/supervise with deliveries
  • Liaise with Home Manager regarding maintenance
  • Participate in staff and client meetings
  • Attend mandatory training
  • Maintain professional knowledge
  • Ensure safe use and storage of paints and varnishes
  • Ensure ventilation during painting/varnishing
  • Report illnesses or accidents immediately
  • Implement Health and Safety policy and Emergency/Fire procedures
  • Promote safe working practice

Requirements

  • General maintenance knowledge / experience e.g. minor electrical, plumbing, joinery work etc.
  • Good communication skills
  • Confident team player
  • Clean driving licence
  • Use of a car or similar vehicle
  • Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety / EHO issues
  • Satisfactory Police check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)

Nice to have

  • Understanding of central heating systems, laundry equipment and hot & cold water systems
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations
