The Mainframe VSE System Programmer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting the VSE/zVSE operating system and related system software. The role ensures stable, secure, and efficient mainframe operations that support the organization’s business‑critical workloads.
Job Responsibility:
Upgrade, and maintain VSE / zVSE operating systems, system software, and tools
Apply patches, maintenance updates, and corrective services as required
Install any CICS utilities or any other products in VSE environment
Support and manage mainframe subsystems including VTAM and VSAM
Troubleshoot system issues, performance problems, and production incidents
Maintain documentation for system changes, configurations, and procedures
Collaborate with application, operations, and vendor teams on system-related needs
Participate in on-call support for critical mainframe environments
Requirements:
Experience with VSE / zVSE system programming
Knowledge of VTAM, VSAM, JCL, and system utilities
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams
A minimum of 7 years of experience in mainframe environments
Nice to have:
Familiarity with COBOL or Assembler environments
Experience in large-scale enterprise mainframe operations
