Seeking a Mainframe Migration Test Lead with strong mainframe expertise, insurance domain knowledge, and hands-on experience supporting VSE-to-z/OS or similar platform migrations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and execute test strategy across functional, regression, integration, performance, and parallel-run phases
  • Lead cross-functional testing teams across multiple workstreams
  • Communicate test progress, risks, and go/no-go readiness
  • Apply risk-based testing to prioritize critical areas
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, especially in regulated insurance environments

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, batch processing, and mainframe architecture
  • Experience with VSE and z/OS, including differences in job execution, file handling, and utilities
  • Insurance domain familiarity: policy admin, claims, billing, new business, underwriting
  • Data migration testing: file format changes, record layout validation, reconciliation, data integrity checks
  • Ability to define and execute test strategy across functional, regression, integration, performance, and parallel-run phases
  • Hands-on experience with parallel processing / dual-run testing
  • Managing large regression suites across multiple systems
  • Strong defect triage and root cause analysis
  • Exposure to mainframe-compatible test automation tools
  • Leading cross-functional testing teams across multiple workstreams
  • Clear communication of test progress, risks, and go/no-go readiness
  • Applying risk-based testing to prioritize critical areas
  • Experience with large-scale migrations, OS upgrades, or rehosting projects
  • Strong grounding in SDLC and structured testing methodologies
