Job Description:

The Data Custodian is a position responsible for delivering results through the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Bank development team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications data analysis and programming activities within banking mainframe environment.

Job Responsibility:

Analyze and propose data related solutions for projects based on data analysis in banking mainframe environment
Contribute to formulation of strategies for applications development and other functional areas based on application and mainframe knowledge and analysis
Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business integrate to accomplish business goals
Provide evaluative judgment based on data analysis of factual data in complicated and unique situations
Appropriately assess risk and controls when business decisions are made
Manage Change-the-Bank (CTB) Data quality related activities for assigned application(s)
Support Run-the-Bank (RTB) ongoing data quality management at the bank for assigned application(s)
Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various mainframe sources
Develop and maintain complex SQL queries for data retrieval and analysis from DB2 on z/OS
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all extracted datasets

Requirements:

At least 6 years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry experience covering full SDLC cycle and exposure to banking domain areas such as accounting, savings, deposits, loans, authentication, payments and transfers
Exposure to Citibank and knowledge preferred along with Data Governance knowledge
Experience in Applications Development role in mainframe environment
Stakeholder management experience
Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Previous management of application day-to-day operations
Data migration
Data Lineage
Data quality
Mainframe application Data Analysis
Experience in driving application enhancements and change initiatives
Liaison with business owners on all of the above activities
Experience addressing inconsistencies in data and resolving data quality issues in applications by thorough data analysis in mainframe environment
Experience with the metadata and lineage through an application to support capture, organization, movement, transformation, and storage of data
Experience managing Data Dictionaries and Data Lineage
Experience managing upstream & downstream data consumption needs required for an application
Hands-on experience with mainframe technologies such as JCL, COBOL, VSAM, DB2 on z/OS
Proficiency in SQL, particularly for DB2 on z/OS
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python with libraries like Pandas/NumPy) and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is highly desirable
