Job Description:

Position: Mainframe Architect Senior Technical Lead. Experience:8-10 Years. The role provides technical leadership for business-critical Mainframe applications, combining hands-on development with design ownership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership for business-critical Mainframe applications
  • Lead design, development, enhancement, and support of applications using COBOL, DB2, and JCL
  • Act as the technical point of contact for client stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Analyze and resolve complex production issues, ensuring high system availability and stability
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent corrective and preventive actions
  • Review and approve technical designs, code, and implementation approaches
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, performance benchmarks, and security guidelines
  • Oversee batch processing, job scheduling, restart/recovery, and performance optimization
  • Support release planning, deployments, and post-release validations
  • Mentor team members and ensure technical knowledge continuity
  • Identify technical risks and dependencies and propose mitigation strategies
  • Provide inputs for effort estimation, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in Mainframe technologies: COBOL (Batch), JCL
  • In-depth knowledge of DB2, including SQL development and performance tuning
  • Proven experience in Application Maintenance & Development (ADM / AMS)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex production issues
  • Experience working with ITSM processes (incident, problem, change management)
  • Ability to lead technical teams in onshore–offshore delivery models
  • Excellent communication skills in a client-facing environment
  • Bachelor in Engineering/ Computer Science
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Primary Skills: Mainframe, DB2, COBOL, JCL

Nice to have:

  • Experience in banking, insurance, or other regulated domains
  • Exposure to Mainframe modernization or transformation programs
  • Knowledge of batch scheduling tools and performance optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of DevOps or automation concepts for Mainframe environments
