Job Description:

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities. This role will be part of our Application Development/Engineering team, and as an Applications Development Group Manager, will be responsible for leading cross product delivery for Banking & Payments Engineering.

Job Responsibility:

Manage multiple teams of professionals
Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function
Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made
Lead Application Development and Delivery for multiple Banking & Payments initiatives
Lead teams that gather and document technical requirements, code specifications, test plans and results
Partner for success with remote teams
Establish collaborative and productive relationships with diverse stakeholder teams
Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products, and enhance processes
Analyze complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
Develop application methodologies and standards for program analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
Consult with end users to identify system function specifications
Allocate work, and act as an advisor/coach developers, analysts, and new team members

Requirements:

Graduate/Post Graduate degree in engineering or computer science streams
Demonstrable analytical and quantitative skills
15+ years of hands-on experience in technical design and delivery of enterprise applications
Demonstrable experience driving continuous quality improvements
Deep experience with Talent management
Ability to effectively identify, track and resolve or escalate risks
Ability to drive collaboration with various partner systems and development/testing teams
Experience in implementing projects
Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications
Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in area(s) of Applications Development
Demonstrated knowledge of client core business functions
Demonstrated leadership, project management, and development skills
Relationship and consensus building skills
Past roles as a technology delivery lead
Past roles with Design, Development experience working with Retail Banking applications and/or packages
Extensive experience in having led technical teams
Experience working with enterprise transaction processing systems
Past experience leading Application modernization initiatives
Strong experience having led design, development and implementation of microservices based transformation initiatives

Nice to have:

Experience in using Open Source technology and tools
Knowledge and understanding of Web security framework
Experience working with high volume, mission critical, multithreaded applications
Working Knowledge and Experience with multi cloud technologies
Working Knowledge and Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts & tools
Working Knowledge and Experience with modern testing methodologies (TDD, BDD)
Working Knowledge and Experience with automating development processes
A good understanding of the Banking & Payments domain and ongoing payment industry trends
