We are looking for a detail-oriented Mailroom Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in New York, New York. In this role, you will be responsible for handling daily mail operations, ensuring timely delivery and organization of incoming and outgoing correspondence. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Sort and distribute incoming mail to the appropriate departments or individuals
Prepare outgoing mail, ensuring proper labeling and postage
Maintain accurate records of mailroom activities and deliveries
Coordinate with couriers and delivery services for special shipments
Ensure mailroom supplies are adequately stocked and organized
Monitor mailroom equipment and report any issues for repair or replacement
Assist with packaging and shipping tasks when necessary
Respond promptly to inquiries regarding mail or package statuses
Implement procedures to improve mailroom efficiency and organization
Requirements:
Previous experience in a mailroom or administrative support role
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting and moving packages
Familiarity with mail processing equipment and procedures
Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping
Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and external contacts
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
High school diploma or equivalent required
