Job Responsibility

  • Adhere to General Work Requirements
  • Verify quantity and material type are correct and all prior inspection points have been stamped
  • Verify all engineering and shop documents have been obtained to perform the necessary work order
  • Assist with planning machining procedures and set-up machine and part(s)
  • Set-up and/or verify cutting tools per machine requirements
  • Perform a variety of machining operations (boring, drilling, milling, tapping, threading) on raw material to produce machined part(s) to tolerances and dimensions
  • Monitor feeds, spindle speeds, and tool wear during machining process and make adjustments as required
  • Finish machined part(s) using various hand tools
  • Verify part is within specified tolerances and dimensions and make further adjustments as required
  • Maintain existing documents, shop aid tools, and blueprints for applicable machines and equipment
  • Plan machining procedures and set-up machine and part(s)
  • Develop and/or edit programs for machining equipment as required
  • Perform a variety of manual and computerized machining operations
  • Maintain existing system of programs, documents, shop aid tools, and blueprints for applicable machines and equipment

Requirements

  • Ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and smooth the surfaces of machined parts using a variety of hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
  • Ability to operate machining equipment including both mills and lathes
  • Ability to build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
  • Ability to distinguish between a sharp and a dull or chipped tool
  • Ability to operate conventional and computerized machining equipment including both mills and lathes
  • Ability to design and build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
  • Ability to operate and calibrate tool setter per assigned area
