Job Description

The Machinist II is responsible for interpreting prints and drawings, setting up and operating CNC lathes, CNC mills, and 5-axis CNC mills, and inspecting parts to ensure they meet all specifications. This role focuses on producing high-quality parts by performing setups, selecting tooling, and using precision measuring equipment. The Machinist II works with minimal supervision and demonstrates a solid understanding of CNC machining practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and/or models to understand part specifications and tolerances
  • Select appropriate tools and fixtures, and set up CNC machines according to process documentation
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or 5-axis CNC mills to produce complex parts to tight tolerances
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to verify conformance to specifications
  • Identify and resolve machining issues during setups and production runs to maintain part quality and meet deadlines
  • Perform routine machine maintenance tasks and ensure equipment is used safely and properly
  • Record job information accurately, including time tracking and inspection results, in accordance with ISO documentation requirements
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area
