A Machinist at Thompson Aero Seating is a skilled operator with an extensive knowledge of CNC machining processes and programming. They will be integral for shop floor problem solving and improvements while also conducting program prove outs in line with the Final Article Inspection (FAI) process. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential. Responsible for operating a number of CNC Machines, ensuring that all products are produced to the required specifications with a focus on quality standards, ensuring that targets are consistently met. This role is for night shift from 19:30 - 07:30 continental shift pattern in the Machine Shop.
Job Responsibility:
Operating two CNC Machines to produce high quality components, ensuring that production deadlines are met, efficiently, safely and to appropriate quality standards
KPI’s to be met and maintained
Liaise with the Technical Lead to discuss improvements to add value to the machining process
Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality and liaise with the Technical Lead with any machine issues that affect quality and production
Understand specifications of the task at hand using engineering drawings and CAM software
Inspect and measure finished products and determine if the process has been completed properly using quality equipment
Liaise with Lead to ensure high standards of work and on time delivery in accordance with the business needs
Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace
Ensure Health & Safety standards are adhered to
Escalate issues to management as required
Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations
Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient work area
Requirements:
2+ years’ experience of 3 or 5 Axis Machines
Familiar with quality equipment (Verniers/ Bore Mics/ Tread gauges)
Previous use of CAM software to check parts against 3D
CNC Experience
Meticulous attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Problem solving skills with a focus on process improvements
Team player
Good working knowledge of FANUC/Heidenhain controls
