Join Our Dynamic Onsite Engineering & Facilities Team at IPL Sittingbourne! We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Machine Technician to become a vital part of our onsite Engineering & Facilities Team at our Produce site in Sittingbourne. If you are passionate about Engineering & Facilities and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, this role is perfect for you!

Job Responsibility:

  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures in a clean, safe environment
  • Monitor work areas to ensure safety and maintain machinery cleanliness
  • Complete daily machine safety checks as per SOPs
  • Lead autonomous maintenance of equipment, ensuring on and off-line activities are completed
  • Communicate machine safety issues to the Engineering Team, Line Leaders, and direct reports
  • Monitor yield to optimise value for IPL
  • Perform product changeovers safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and identifying improvements
  • Liaise clearly with Line Leaders to ensure timely machine setups and prompt changeovers
  • Report machine run rate issues affecting safety or productivity to the Line Leader and Engineer immediately
  • Conduct mandatory safety and food safety checks
  • Perform check weights and scale calibration as trained, recording each weight accurately
  • Report underweights and causations to the Line Leader and resolve issues, informing the Engineering team if problems persist

Requirements:

  • FMCG experience in a production/operational environment
  • Excellent practical skills with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Educated to GCSE level A, B, or C (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Strong analytical and IT skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, able to liaise comfortably with all levels within the company
  • Ability to work quickly and methodically within a team environment
  • Initiative-driven and results-oriented
  • Flexible to meet and deliver business needs
  • High attention to detail
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH) is desirable
  • Experience with similar machinery/equipment
  • Ability to challenge non-compliance to industry-leading standards
