Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for carrying out the consistent mechanical processes of their assigned machine through set up, maintenance, and operation. This machine operator will pay close attention to detail, focus on the present tasks, ensuring accuracy of the machined processed material. It is essential to ensure that quality standards are followed, and tasks and duties are carried out in a safe and efficient manner according to standard operation procedures. This position requires a level of detail orientation with a high sense of urgency to keep pace with a fast-paced production environment. Production procedures are carried out smoothly always maximizing efficiencies. Communication is essential to report production barriers to management relating to productivity, safety, quality, and output.

Job Responsibility

  • Setting up machines to begin production, performing daily preventative maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting machine as necessary
  • Monitoring and ensuring the constant flow of material into machine and conveyors while observing each piece of material for potential defects ensuring each defective product is removed from the production line
  • Creating, stacking, and throwing “lead” product as necessary to generate constant flow of material for production
  • Supporting the manufacturing and daily production goals by carrying out assigned tasks according to the standard operating procedure in a safe and efficient manner within designated area
  • Completing daily quality documentation processes within designated area
  • Adheres to company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and addresses concerns with management
  • Ensure non-stop operation in partnership with various departments to deliver the correct product in sufficient quantities aligning with operating procedures
  • Continuously observe and evaluate machine to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to identify when/if scan & chop saw goes out of calibration, troubleshoot and adjust as necessary
  • Demonstrates consistent production quality and workmanship
  • Demonstrates understanding of quality processes and procedures within assigned area
  • Demonstrates proficient operating knowledge processing equipment within assigned area
  • Ability to identify production and machinery defects and escalate to team leader or manager
  • Ability to interpret and execute various technical procedures in order to troubleshoot machinery
  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet demands established by the production schedule
  • Practices safe handling of material and equipment utilizing proper personal protective equipment
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety regulations according to OSHA, and all other regulatory agencies
  • Ability to operate machinery, multi-task, interpret and follow policies and procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity
