Job Description:

As a skilled Machine Builder with strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail, particularly in fit, finish, and high‑precision assembly. You will be responsible for assembling custom automated machinery from the ground up. This includes mechanical assembly, system integration, testing, and assisting with installation as needed. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, demonstrates excellent problem‑solving skills, and thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑paced engineering environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Build and assemble custom automation equipment according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Perform precision mechanical assembly, ensuring exceptional fit and finish
  • Assist with machine debugging, testing, and validation
  • Work closely with engineering to resolve build challenges and improve designs
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe workplace
  • Support machine installation and commissioning at customer sites as needed
  • Travel at least 20% of the time may be required. This may include domestic and international travel, depending on the project

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, or related role in automation or machinery manufacturing is highly preferred
  • The ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on assembly skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on quality, alignment, and overall craftsmanship
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD prints, and assembly documentation
  • Experience with hand tools, precision measurement tools, and mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, linear motion components, and industrial hardware
  • Basic understanding of electrical/panel wiring or willingness to learn (a plus)
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a custom build environment
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • technical training or apprenticeship preferred
  • Former JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry is strongly preferred
  • JR Automation requires candidates to successfully complete a 10-panel drug screen, physical examination, and background check

  • Set up and operate various machine tools, such as manual lathes and small mills, and apply knowledge of mechanisms, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures to support the assembly team with new work or rework
  • Attend assigned Project Kick-Off meetings (PKO), review scope of work, budget and schedule
